We've been on the news recently with the whole world watching as most of us are a tad embarassed with the behaviour of a few bad apples in downtown Toronto and we're glad the month of June is over but we're still a bit too modest during a fiasco to be as boisterous as usual. Really, think back just a few months and we were all extatic about our lasting impression while hosting the Olympics and just a couple of seasons later and we're red in the face (pardon the pun) from embarassment (at least I am) about a bunch of hooligans? And don't even get me started on the treatment by authorities! Ohhhhh the shame of it all! *she says with the drama required for such a phrase* ..... well I want to put it behind me and focus on who we really are. This IS Canada and we Canadians ARE proud!
So my friend Julie told me about a contest a few months back and the photo needed to show Canadian spirit. We took time, we planned and plotted and worked.... and....I forgot to enter the contest when it was time! I, of course eventually did come to see this as an opportunity for one reason. I don't want to give away such a fantastic photo to someone else!
We had such a good time and I loved this picture so much that I just had to feature it just for today and because I AM proud to be Canadian its going BIG! Besides...It may not have gone into the contest but I think it could have won anyway! ;) The weather was great, the sun was amazing and the kids were fantastic. I was with a good friend bonding like we always do and I was totally enjoying the results of my picture taking so all in all its pretty obvious this was a great day. AND... great days happen a lot in Canada. I think back to when I was young and the commercials were on tv and we WERE proud... I AM Canadian. lol... ok done gettin' all sappy... A Canadian usually only feels the need to say that once every so often so I'm off to the important part of the day. I'm spending a day with the kiddos and making calls to family to let them know how great they are.
