Over the next few months I'd like to have a few friends and colleagues do some guest blogging on the site and thought it best to start with the person I have worked with the most. This gives an opportunity for mutual accolades! LOL! YAY!
I have blogged so many times in the past about Lisa Nicole that if you sift back you can learn how we met and what I think of her as a person both professionally and personally. What's good about asking her to guest blog is I got a chance to hear the relationship from her perspective. When I read what she wrote I think quite a few things. First off I think ....REALLY? Me? Ok, the wide eyed kind of innocence thing and the fact that Lisa doesn't have to initiate conversation doesn't really shock me. I've heard that kind of description of me come from Lisa before. I've even heard her sing my praises of being some sort of magician photographer but every single time I hear it I wonder who she is actually talking about. lol.
The truth is I do get very excited when someone starts thinking outside the box, the truth is I DO think differently than most people. What makes me feel all warm and cozy about hearing it from Lisa isn't that I know she understands me in a way that many people don't its that there is so much acceptance of who I am in there when she does get me. I am fortunate. I don't always have the understanding I am looking for in people. Left field, left brain, artistic, autistic way of thinking,..whatever it is doesn't matter. When you have a friend and colleague like Lisa Nicole you are grateful.
Truth be told I would not be where I am right now if it were not for Lisa. She pushed and pushed and pushed for me to find confidence in my abilities. The very first time we met she was combing through my photos and telling me how fantastic they were. When things got rough she would patiently wait for me to stop crying my broken hearted tears and then say "time to pick up the camera" to help me push forward. Lisa was a lifeline. Naturally on a bad day she is the first person I run to or shall I say type to. We don't get to see each other as often as we like but like she said we talk in little snippets all day.
Professionally speaking she's easy to work with. She's pliable. She has ideas but takes direction when the ideas are mine. Outside of model I've never heard anyone belt out a tune like Lisa. When she and Daren sing and play together I feel home. We've had a long road together in the time we've been friends mostly because of how much I've been through and how much she's been there for me. So its not just a model you get in a picture when I work with Lisa. You get more than that too. She's a nurturer, she's a listener, she's a healer. I guess one thing I think when I read what she wrote is...I'm HER photographer? Really? Boy, I sure am lucky!
